I’ve got it bad. It’s not attractive, not pretty. But I’ve got it. I don’t like being envious, covetous, jealous… and yet, there it is. So I’m just going to embrace it.
I have a severe case of FOMO, Jeryl. (That’s Fear of Missing Out for those of you not privy to my acronyms.) And it’s not really even a fear, it’s a fact. ROMO (Reality of Missing Out).
EVERY. SINGLE. PERSON. I. KNOW. was at Indy’s Super Bowl Village last night. At least it seemed that way. The pictures are gorgeous, the celebrities abundant, my little green heart burst with envious sadness.
Way to go, Indy. I am so proud of my native state.
As a celebrity stalker, a people-watcher, a rabid concert-goer, and an alcoholic beverage swiller, I feel like I’m missing the event of a lifetime. I’ve toyed with the idea of turning off my Facebook account until it’s all over. That’s how deep my ugly envy goes. But then I might miss a picture of Jimmy Fallon, of Adam Sandler, of Ryan Gosling, of my loves circling Drew Brees like a hungry pack of wolves and hanging out at the glorious fire and ice stations. And when the Rolling Stone party happens tonight? Watch out.
On the other hand, I’m just so happy for Indiana. What a show, what a coup. Now the rest of the world knows just how fabulous the Hoosier state is.
Enjoy every moment of it, dear friends and family. Keep sending me pictures, keep stalking celebrities for me. I’m saying a few Mississippi prayers that the rain stays at bay today.
When OAR plays “This Town” tonight, be sure to sing it. Loudly.
XO, Indy. You continue to make us proud.

For the record, Mary and I were NOT downtown last night! 🙂 (feel better?)
Katrina,
Thanks to you, I can now identify my condition. I, too, have Fear of Missing Out!
With the Super Bowl madness, I saw it coming. Even took the family Monday night and
stayed Tuesday for Super Bowl Media Day. I thought I could live with that taste of the adventure.
I was wrong. It’s killing me not to be there now. My friends and family don’t feel that way.
I’m trying to live with not being there, but it isn’t easy. I continue to think I might get down there.
Maybe I’ll take a lone drive and end up there or something. lol
Cathy, who is about an hour+ away and might as well be in Mississippi 🙁
Want to read live commentary about Super Bowl XLVI? …not the game but the commericals? Stop by http://aftertheperiod.wordpress.com
Dear Katrina, nice to meet you. My name is Flavia and recently I saw your post on the wordpress website, since then I’ve added to my google reader site. It’s really well written, congrats!
EVERY. SINGLE. PERSON. YOU. KNOW…. except me. Once was enough. Frankly, I’d rather be in Starkvegas. How’s that for envy? XO
Then you really don’t want to hear the rumors of all the famous people hanging in Zionsville!
I want to hear the rumors, Mike! Name names!
